project description

The objectives of the project were to

  • analyse and describe the influence of technological, organizational and managerial, marketing and information factors on the process of modernisation;
  • to provide a comparative analysis between companies in the two NIS (newly independent states) and between companies in NIS and EU countries;
  • to develop and disseminate a set of recommendations on improving the strategies of modernization in the enterprises.

A specific emphasis was  given to engineering enterprises in Voronezh region (Russian Federation) and Lugansk (Ukraine).

Theoretical and methodological background was prepared in cooperation for research of each factor. Studying of technological factors was directed by the Institute for World Economics and International Mangement, Germany, information factors by University of Macedonia, Greece, marketing factors by University College Galway, Ireland, organizational and managerial factors by Voronezh State University, Russia.

Each partner mentioned above is specialized in particular fields of social sciences relevant to corresponding factor of modernization.

The following research activities were conducted: literature review, infrastructure-review, expert survey, enterprise survey, preparing case studies. Empirical research at the NIS enterprises were conducted by research teams from Lugansk and Voronezh. For studying each factor a seperate research team were organized both in Voronezh and Lugansk
